You may think you need a college degree and internship experience to be admitted into our sales bootcamp and be well on your way to becoming a quota-crushing sales development representative. Well, I'm here to explain how that notion couldn't be any further from the truth.
In fact, none of the companies that we partner with require a college degree from our students. As an SDR, a college degree is completely unnecessary (see "Do You Need A Degree for Sales"). In fact, the Co-founder and CEO of our company, Gabriel Moncayo, never attended college.
Here is what you don't need if you want to join our sales bootcamp and eventually the world of inside sales:
- Sales experience
- A college degree
- Internship experience
- Technical knowledge
- Connections in the tech industry
So, don't worry if you don't have any of that. Even if you do have some of those qualifications, it doesn't guarantee you success in sales. Some of those may be "nice to have" but they are not necessarily an advantage.
When we talk to our hiring partners, we don't say "this person is the best fit for you because he/she has a college degree and past internship experience." We focus on the key performance indicators (KPIs) for SDRs in tech. Excellence in KPIs gives us confidence that you are ready to become a quota-crushing SDR and are ready to join the world of inside sales.
So what's most important is your performance in our bootcamp, not previous irrelevant skills or experience.
You will gain the technical knowledge from the hands-on nature of our sales training courses. So technical knowledge isn't a prerequisite for our bootcamp.
Then what are we looking for in the students of our sales bootcamp?
Work Ethic
Starting out as an SDR is a grind. It definitely pays off down the line, but it can be a struggle early in your career. Why? Because you deal with failure very often. Life as a SDR can be tough to begin with. But the people that work extremely hard will have success. If life as an SDR were easy then everyone would do it. The perks are pretty awesome. But the perks are great because it is a tough line of work that will test your work ethic.
Coachability
Coachability is extremely important for anyone, but it is especially important for entry level sales reps. The tech industry is extremely dynamic so best practices are always changing. If you are able to take coaching from a manager and then implement the lesson effectively then you will stay up to date on best practices. Being coachable also increases your long term potential since you will be absorbing so much knowledge that will be useful in different scenarios.
Persistence
Failure is guaranteed to happen. A lot of it. It's how you respond to the failure.
Do you use it as a learning lesson?
Or do you come back even stronger?
We love to invest in people that use failure as motivation to get even better.

Guess what?
If you have those three traits then you are qualified for our sales bootcamp. Not only that, but you will be well on your way to becoming an all-star sales rep. With the sales skills and technical knowledge you learn in our sales bootcamp, you will be unstoppable.
